Today, we shine a light on four incredible women whose dedication and expertise continue to shape ophthalmology in the Caribbean. Their passion for eye care, research, and service is an inspiration to us all!

🌟 Professor Lizette Mowatt – First Professor of Ophthalmology at UWI Jamaica, leading the way in retina care and this year’s Garth Taylor Memorial Lecturer.

🌟 Dr. Kim Jebodhsingh – Trailblazer in ophthalmic research and an Anthony N. Sabga Award Laureate, pushing the boundaries of innovation.

🌟 Dr. Hazel Shillingford-Ricketts – Dedicated to eye health in Dominica, honored for her service in fighting preventable blindness.

🌟 Dr. Sonja Johnston – Pediatric ophthalmology expert, Consultant at Scarborough General Hospital, and pro bono consultant to the School for Blind Children. For over 10 years, she has worked behind the scenes at OSWI, ensuring the Caribbean’s presence on the global stage.

But today isn’t just about these remarkable women—it’s about every female nurse, technician, resident, and doctor working to prevent blindness and improve lives. Your hard work does not go unnoticed!
